jimaworks Privacy Policy

The following items of information may be collected in the course of your interactions with jimaworks:

Your email address.  This will be optionally provided by you in order to receive newsletters or to allow us to support your project with “save and return” features and resources in case you find “sticking points” in your RelationShips or ArrivalMaps project.  Should you finalize an order your email will be required so that we can send you proofs of you purchase, so that you can preview your product and ensure full satisfaction before we manufacture for you your individually-tailored, physical product.  In addition, we may contact you with guidance or aids in filling out elements of your project if it seems you are stuck.  Finally, we may subsequently contact you about other jimaworks products unless you opt-out of such notifications.

Information about one of more persons of interest to you who were migrants into America, possibly including their names, relations, and ages at the time of their migration.  This information forms the content of the five “text-boxes”, but in particular the Plaque text box.  These text boxes individualize your product to the specific details of your family’s or your relation’s history.  Currently jimaworks uses this information solely to customize your product for your individual use.  However, we may also use this data to analyze the information provided by our customers in the aggregate to determine whether, e.g., we should be using better default text strings for the text-box defaults, etc.

Information about the circumstances of their migration, possibly including their countries of origin, ports of departure, ports of arrival in America, initial destination in America, the time of their crossing, the ship or airplane of their crossing, and the duration of their voyage.  Similarly, this information provides additional content for the five jimaworks “text-boxes” that individualize your product to the event you are commemorating.  Currently jimaworks uses this information both to generate germane default text you may want to use for the product, and to otherwise customize your product for your individual use.  However, we may use this data as well to analyze the information provided by our customers in the aggregate as above, to e.g., determine whether we can generate better default text strings for the text-box defaults.
